Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe

Business Committee Election – 5/2/2020

Saturday May 2nd, 2020 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Drive-Thru polling will be available but Mail-In Ballots Strongly Encouraged

The LEKT Election Committee is recommending and requesting that as many voters as possible utilize their mail-in ballots to cast their votes in both 2020 Elections (General and Chair).

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, mailing in your ballot is by far the safest way to vote. It decreases risk for yourself and for committee members to limit in-person contact during the election process.

Election packets mailed to registered voters will include a mail-in ballot. For both 2020 LEKT elections, a pre-stamped return envelope will also be included for your convenience in utilizing your mail-in ballot.

The Election Committee is fully equipped to safely and securely process an increase of mail-in ballots. A strict procedure has been implemented for many years to ensure that mail-in ballots can be verified via voter affidavits and signatures, without compromising any voter’s right to privacy or disclosing to any committee member who a person has voted for.

Election Committee members are willing to put themselves on the front line, during the COVID-19 pandemic, to make sure Tribal elections can continue without compromising the integrity of the process.

Although there will be an in-person polling option, please do your part and lessen the risk for everyone by taking advantage of the pre-stamped envelope to submit your mail-in ballot.
