LIHEAP – Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program and LIHWAP Low Income Home Water Assistance Program are funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services. These programs provide financial assistance to income-eligible families costs for heating, cooling, water and wastewater. The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe has to abide by the requirements and guidelines issued by the US Department of Health and Human Services for the LIHEAP program when distributing funds. LIHEAP funds are distributed by the US Department of Health and Human Services to states and to tribes within states.
Eligible American Indian households on the Lower Elwha Klallam Reservation plus eligible Lower Elwha Klallam households within a 15 mile radius of the Lower Elwha Klallam Reservation.

We have increased the portion of funding available for crisis assistance to help ensure support remains available throughout the year, as long as funds are available.

IF YOU RECEIVED LIHEAP LAST YEAR, you will need to supply a new one to determine eligibility based on federal guidelines.
- Must have current income verification for the three months prior to appointment date.
- Must Photo ID if it is not in your file from last year.
- Must have current landlord statement
IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE LIHEAP LAST YEAR, YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING:

- Proof of tribal enrollment

When applying for LIHEAP, please bring the following for all members living within the household:
