1. I was exposed to someone with COVID-19 and I have NO SYMPTONS… what do I do? See #3 and #4 below if you live with someone who has COVID.

  • IF you have had your booster OR you finished your Moderna or Pfizer series less than 6 months ago: – Quarantine is not required. Watch for symptoms, and get tested after 5 days of exposure, or sooner if you feel sick. – Continue to wear a 3-ply disposable/K95/KN95 mask when around others for 10 days following exposure.
  • IF you are not vaccinated or you have not had your booster: – Quarantine for 5 days at home, and get tested on day 5. – If your test on day 5 is negative you can end quarantine. Continue to wear 3-ply disposable/K95/KN95 mask when around others for 10 days following exposure.

2. I was exposed to someone with COVID-19 and I have symptoms. . . What do I do?

Test for COVID. Quarantine until you can get a test, and until you get the test results.

3. I live with someone who has COVID and I’m vaccinated in the past 6months (Pfizer/Moderna, 2months J&J) or I’m Boosted.

If the COVID positive person is able to isolate away from others in the house, then no quarantine is required. You must test at 5 days from exposure to the positive person, and continue to wear 3-ply disposable or K95/KN95 mask around others for 10 days.

If the COVID positive person is not able to isolate away from others in the house, then 5 days of quarantine is required. Day 1 of quarantine starts the first day that the positive person’s symptoms started. Test at 5 days from their symptom start date. Continue to wear 3-ply disposable or K95/KN95 mask around others for 5 additional days once released from quarantine.

4. I live with someone who has COVID, and I’m not vaccinated or I don’t have my booster

If the COVID positive person is able to isolate away from others in the house, then 5 day quarantine from last exposure to the positive person is required. Continue to wear 3-ply disposable or K95/KN95 mask around others for 5 additional days once released from quarantine.

If the COVID positive person is not able to isolate away from others in the house, then you must wait for the COVID positive person to fully recover, then your 5 day quarantine begins. Recovery from COVID takes places at a minimum of 10 days.

5. I tested positive for COVID-19… what do I do?

  • Isolate at home, away from others for 10 days. Stay in a separate room and use a separate bathroom if available – if a separate bathroom is not available, sanitize between uses and others should wait one hour after you shower before entering the bathroom. Use shared spaces like the kitchen at different times than others. Wear a K95/KN95 mask whenever you are around others or in shared spaces.
  • If you are symptom free at either day 5 or 8, you can be removed from isolation with a negative home COVID test. LEKT will not provide home tests to test out of isolation, and LEHD will not conduct testing to remove from isolation for LEKT staff.
  • Notify the people you’ve been around. You are contagious for COVID-19 beginning 2 days before your symptoms start (or two days before your test was done if you have no symptoms). You will need to notify the people you were around during that time, including:
      • The people you live with;
      • Your employer or school;
      • Anyone else you were in close contact with for 10-15 minutes or more.

* If you are a healthcare worker or work in a high-risk setting, your guidance for returning to work may be different.

6. What’s the difference between isolation vs. quarantine?

QUARANTINE keeps someone who was in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 away from others. Quarantine if you have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, unless you have been fully vaccinated.

ISOLATION keeps someone who is sick or tested positive for COVID-19 without symptoms away from others, even in their own home. People who are in isolation should stay home and stay in a specific “sick room” or area and use a separate bathroom (if available).

7. What is “exposure”?

Close contact with someone who’s recently tested positive for 10-15 mins closer than 6ft. Exposure time frame goes back to the 2 days before the positive person started to show symptoms.

8. What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
